Spinning Stars Quilt

Here is the quilt that I worked on while pregnant with my second daughter and completed when she was about 8 month old...lol. I truly do love the color and the simplicity of the hand stitching.

I received my inspiration for this over at  Anna Maria Horner's site. There you can find the free pdf pattern for this beautiful quilt. I used the Lou Lou Thi fabric from her line, matching anchor embroidery thread and died the backing a muted grey/blue to compliment.

I hope you enjoy this pattern as much as I do. Just wanted to update what I've been doing since I've been away from soap. (couldn't handle the scents while pregnant...boo)

No looking at these photos, I can tell just how loved this quilt has been. My family has used the dickens out of it. Now, nearly 3 yrs later...needing a repair here and there, it still holds the place of honor on the family room couch. : )

Much love,

Time...

Hello there, little blog from 4 years ago!

Just remembered that I had this blog long ago in what seems like a simpler time. Many events have come and gone in the last 4 or so years since I last posted. Joy, sadness, loss and determination. It's been quite some time since I have been able to create my much loved soap, though I do miss it so.

Joy: Two babies have been added to our family since the last post. One little girl in 2011 and a little boy just last summer in 2013. My, has our family grown. So much pitter-patter around the house, much noise and ruckus, but also a lot of love. I've seen my two older children grow and mature so much, it brings tears to my eyes watching them with their little sister and brother.

Loss: As with many in the last few years, we came up against some hard financial times. Working so hard to try to keep our lovely home. But in the summer of 2010, we had to make a very hard decision to let our house go to short sale. It was so painful to give up the life and land that we had worked so hard on. And then to move into a small rental was as difficult as holding ones breath for a prolonged amount of time.

Determination: This last November we were once again able to move into a home of our own. A lovely sense of relief, but I have to admit that the magic is tarnished when you have lost one before. It's a nice house, but it is hard to not feel jaded by the past. We work, we love, we play. The days go by faster and faster.

In closing: I do hope to post on this site with the adventures that we have been on, the crafts completed and the new ones started. Hoping to scratch out a time in a day soon to experiment with soap once again. To fill the house with lovely lavender, mint, sage and rosemary. Soon...very soon.

I hope that the last few years have treated you well and hope that this new year will open up opportunities and graciousness to you all.

A bit of Sugar...

Introducing Little Miss Sugar. She's a 10 week old Dachshund that we recently introduced to our family. I know....AWWWWW!!!

Boy is she a little handful, has given us plenty of laughs with all her antics!

Her favorite activity is stealing bones/chew toys from out 5 year old Staffordshire Terrior, Jake! He's pretty tolerant, considering and they have lots of fun together. ; )

Wow, she really is a Mini!! Jake's good sized, but this pic makes him look huge!

This is Jake, my lover boy. So very proud of him for being so great to his new 'sister'

Just thought it would be fun to share what we've been up to. Haven't been on for awhile, so wanted to let you know I didn't fall off the face of the earth! lol!

Happy Day! and Creating!!

Classically Simple--A Branch of the Alexander's Shop

BESTeam Feauture of the Week!

Today I have the special honor of featuring a now more familar group of artists. Not too long ago, I did a feature on Alexander's Design....and this week, by the luck of the draw, I'll be featuring them again. This is all fine and good, because they are a great pair of artists and I by far wasn't able to feature all they do in the first post! ; )

Classically Simple is primarily constructed by Jenny, in this husband wife team, she designs the layouts and demensions of the jewelry peices.

These two really are very talented, putting together fired glass and metal peices. You can learn more about their other shop Alexander's Design here on my blog. Stunning! In this new shop, there were many items that caught my eye. This pearl necklace in particular. I love how it flows!

I see these items accenting a lovely cocktail dress, for a summer wedding, or for prom. Like this beautiful starfish crystal pendant, very different and all your own! The pendant just glows!!

I hope you will visit this couples shop, you can also find out more about what these busy two are up to by going to their website.

Thank you and have a creative day!!

The Busy-er We Become, the Harder We Fall

That's what I've learned in the past week anyway. The busy-er being trying to juggle all balls in life, no matter their weight differences in an even and ever faster rotation. Somethings gotta give...well that was me. One full week of being sick and not able to do any of it! HA! Life is full of surprises and potential for laughs. It also presents one with opportunities. Now these opportunities don't always look as such, not until you slow down to look...and what better time than when you are feeling as low as the mud stuck on your shoe? ; )

So I find myself at a cross-roads. It involves work, family time (more or less depending on which road is taken), a knowing of ones self and the chance to expand that knowing. I know I'm not being specific, but there is a place and time...and, I don't really think you want the little details. Just know this is a different sort of time for me and my family....a kind thought sent or prayer would definately be a good and nice thing.

I hope that you and yours are doing well. And while I'm sitting here counting my blessings, making decisions, I hope I've inspired you to do the same.

Have a wonderfully creative day and I'll type to you all soon. ; )
