Here is the quilt that I worked on while pregnant with my second daughter and completed when she was about 8 month old...lol. I truly do love the color and the simplicity of the hand stitching.

I received my inspiration for this over at Anna Maria Horner's site. There you can find the free pdf pattern for this beautiful quilt. I used the Lou Lou Thi fabric from her line, matching anchor embroidery thread and died the backing a muted grey/blue to compliment.

I hope you enjoy this pattern as much as I do. Just wanted to update what I've been doing since I've been away from soap. (couldn't handle the scents while pregnant...boo)

No looking at these photos, I can tell just how loved this quilt has been. My family has used the dickens out of it. Now, nearly 3 yrs later...needing a repair here and there, it still holds the place of honor on the family room couch. : )

Much love,

Hello there, little blog from 4 years ago!

Just remembered that I had this blog long ago in what seems like a simpler time. Many events have come and gone in the last 4 or so years since I last posted. Joy, sadness, loss and determination. It's been quite some time since I have been able to create my much loved soap, though I do miss it so.

Joy: Two babies have been added to our family since the last post. One little girl in 2011 and a little boy just last summer in 2013. My, has our family grown. So much pitter-patter around the house, much noise and ruckus, but also a lot of love. I've seen my two older children grow and mature so much, it brings tears to my eyes watching them with their little sister and brother.

Loss: As with many in the last few years, we came up against some hard financial times. Working so hard to try to keep our lovely home. But in the summer of 2010, we had to make a very hard decision to let our house go to short sale. It was so painful to give up the life and land that we had worked so hard on. And then to move into a small rental was as difficult as holding ones breath for a prolonged amount of time.

Determination: This last November we were once again able to move into a home of our own. A lovely sense of relief, but I have to admit that the magic is tarnished when you have lost one before. It's a nice house, but it is hard to not feel jaded by the past. We work, we love, we play. The days go by faster and faster.

In closing: I do hope to post on this site with the adventures that we have been on, the crafts completed and the new ones started. Hoping to scratch out a time in a day soon to experiment with soap once again. To fill the house with lovely lavender, mint, sage and rosemary. Soon...very soon.

I hope that the last few years have treated you well and hope that this new year will open up opportunities and graciousness to you all.

Today I have the special honor of featuring a now more familar group of artists. Not too long ago, I did a feature on Alexander's Design....and this week, by the luck of the draw, I'll be featuring them again. This is all fine and good, because they are a great pair of artists and I by far wasn't able to feature all they do in the first post! ; )

Classically Simple is primarily constructed by Jenny, in this husband wife team, she designs the layouts and demensions of the jewelry peices.

These two really are very talented, putting together fired glass and metal peices. You can learn more about their other shop Alexander's Design here on my blog. Stunning! In this new shop, there were many items that caught my eye. This pearl necklace in particular. I love how it flows!

I see these items accenting a lovely cocktail dress, for a summer wedding, or for prom. Like this beautiful starfish crystal pendant, very different and all your own! The pendant just glows!!

I hope you will visit this couples shop, you can also find out more about what these busy two are up to by going to their website.

Thank you and have a creative day!!
The busy-er being trying to juggle all balls in life, no matter their weight differences in an even and ever faster rotation. Somethings gotta give...well that was me. One full week of being sick and not able to do any of it! HA! Life is full of surprises and potential for laughs. It also presents one with opportunities. Now these opportunities don't always look as such, not until you slow down to look...and what better time than when you are feeling as low as the mud stuck on your shoe? ; )

So I find myself at a cross-roads. It involves work, family time (more or less depending on which road is taken), a knowing of ones self and the chance to expand that knowing. I know I'm not being specific, but there is a place and time...and, I don't really think you want the little details. Just know this is a different sort of time for me and my family....a kind thought sent or prayer would definately be a good and nice thing.

Cute crinkled satin material and 'rose' pin. Very spring, very soft, very pretty. ; ) I made this from a very special piece of material found at the fabric store in one of our last 'scrounging' episodes. My daughter and I love going through the heaps of discarded/remenant cloth at Joanne's or Hancock's and making something outa nothing.

Yes, the photo is blurry, but I'm ok with that. It was taken by my daughter, she is 5, and I know the detail is off a bit...but I thought she captured this shot so well. One of these days, I'll get a model. I have one in the mix, just need to put a few new scarves, totes or whatever it is that draws my eye. And they will be clear shots, beautiful shots. But these are prescious to me....

One last shot, up close and personal. The pin, as you can see has glass and seed beads in the center. They are clear, gold and olive green in color. I love how the pin allows the wearer to change the look of the simple scarf. It can be turned into a cowl...be long and drapy or classic. Super!

If you'd like to see more of this scarf and other items that we've made, please check out Sugar Pine Boutique, on Etsy.
Sugar Pine Boutiquehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07975845812903657951noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2413731872662780699.post-3156717968581583382010-03-17T08:54:00.000-07:002010-03-17T08:56:00.765-07:00Wednesday Feature-- Boutique-a-holic Handknits by NevitaGo BESTeam!
For him to train for his job and for me to get some R&R and hopefully get computer related business stuff done....well, the R&R part worked out pretty well, until I was about to scream...and definately found that I'm not always awesome with designing website layouts.

Anywho....we did get to see and do some fantastic things while in Houston. One absolutely wonderful excursion was to the Space Center.

<------ This suite actually has moon dust on it's toes!!

We saw some pretty spectacular rockets, engines, the training area....Wow, just wished our kids could have seen all this neat stuff!!

We also made it over to Galveston. It's looking pretty good, alot of repairs have been made since Hurrican Ike...but you can sure tell something made it's way through this tiny island town. We stopped at a neat Mexican Resturant named Salsa's....really good Chile Rellenos! Yummmm!! We were soooo full! (The photo is of a cool spanish horse at Salsa's)

It was a bit grey and rainy, but it was still neat to see the Gulf of Mexico. We took some great pics and were in awe of how the waves took out this dolphin statue's base...it's all cracked and jumbled up. Crazy!

Good trip...but, also glad to be back home. Next time we go, we will bringing the kiddo's. There's just so much to do there that they'd love. Waterslides, carnival rides, Imax theatre....

Here's what I've been up to this week. I have these outdoor remnants that I found along the way and figured I could do something with them. So I took 4 of the 12" squares, a bit of pleather and green twill and the Schweet Tote was born which is currently in my shop.

Some days I have so much fun! I had a bunch of remnants from my daughters sweater blanket, ribbings and squares floating around my sewing tote. I had to do something with them...so I set out to make something useful. The neck wrap is what became of the scraps. I really love this because I have tons of shirts that need a little omph, and this a wonderful way to stay warm and create a statement.

Every flower is different in its own way, I played with a bunch of different shapes and sizes and the above creation was born. This moody blue wrap can be seen and purchased at my shop Sugar Pine Boutique, I hope you come check it out! ; )

Wow, what a great year! I know the news likes to tell us otherwise and it's easy to look at all the 'downfall' out there, but stock and housing markets aside, it has proved to be an eye-opening year. I'm talking about the true-ness of families, the steadfastedness of friends pitching in to help each other out. The raiding of our kids closets of out-grown clothing to warm our neighbors with mittens, coats, etc. If nothihg else, these tuff economic times have made a numb, uncaring population into what communities should be. No, I'm not looking through rose-tinted glasses, but this is what I see and am in awe of the transformation. Yes, you are super.

It's when I look back, go over the last year and note the good, bad and ugly. The changes I want to make and the accomplishments that were achieved. I want to say thanks to this wonderful family of mine pictured above, without my family I probably would have given up bringing handcrafted soaps to the world. My daughter is a great inspiration...'purple and grey look great mommy!', 'why don't we put some of the soap together mommy,' says my son. The Sugar Pine Boutique shop on Etsy isn't solely created by me and I thank them so very much.
I also thank the support that I have recieved from family and friends. As many of you know, it is very difficult to get any sort of business off the ground without the support of family and friends. Thank you SO much!!!

I hope you all have a great Christmas and no matter how many presents are under the tree, remember that the true gift of the year are those gathered with you on this special holiday.
